What is Tixel?
Tixel is a skin rejuvenation treatment that utilizes a combination of fractional and thermo-mechanical technology. It works by inducing heat-based damage in a highly controlled and precise manner to stimulate your skin’s natural healing process, improving its appearance not only at the surface, but also the underlying tissue. The fractional component of the technology ensures that surrounding tissue remains intact, which optimizes the healing process and reduces downtime.
What benefits does Tixel provide?
Tixel can improve skin texture and complexion through resurfacing, reversing photoaging (sun-related) damage and superficial pigmentation. By stimulating your skin tissue’s own regenerative processes, the treatment reduces wrinkles, fine lines, and improves skin laxity through collagen remodeling. Tixel is particularly beneficial to treat delicate areas of the face safely and effectively, such as eyelids and periorbital areas, as well as the neck and décolleté.
Who is Tixel for? Who is Tixel not for?
Tixel is suitable for adults across different age groups and beneficial for all skin types and ethnicities. Tanning or other excessive sun exposure should be avoided prior to treatment, as tanned skin is more susceptible to inflammation, which can impair the recovery process or cause irritation. You may resume moderate sun exposure as soon as your skin has fully healed, making it a preferred treatment that can be done year round without any major disruptions to your routine.
What skin concerns does Tixel address?
Tixel is useful for addressing uneven skin texture or uneven complexion caused by photoaging or other skin damage-related hyperpigmentation. Simultaneously, it also addresses aging concerns like fine lines and wrinkles, in addition to providing an overall tightening effect.
How many treatments are required to see results?
Benefits can be observed after a single treatment, and continued improvement is expected up to 3 or 4 consecutive treatments. Depending on your goals, a series of treatments can be scheduled at 1-month intervals or simply as needed.
How long do results last?
As with most other skin rejuvenation treatments, your lifestyle, skincare routine and overall health will determine how long treatment results will last. We recommend periodic treatments as a maintenance approach; the cadence of this depends entirely on the individual.
How long is the treatment recovery time for Tixel?
In our experience, the recovery time for Tixel is approximately 5-7 days. Immediately following treatment, your skin will be red and slightly swollen for 4-6 hours due to erythema. The day after treatment, micro-crusting (tiny scabs) will form in a grid-like or linear pattern across the targeted areas of your face; however, you may use make-up to conceal them as needed. The micro-crusts will disappear over subsequent days. We’ll also provide you with an individualized post-treatment skincare routine to accelerate healing and optimize results.
What is the procedure like?
Tixel lasts around 20-30 minutes. You will be provided with a numbing cream prior to treatment to minimize pain and discomfort. We recommend applying it thoroughly around more sensitive areas, particularly the eyes, as this prevents your tear ducts from being overactive during treatment. Throughout the procedure, you will feel short fragments of a heat sensation. These fragments will be applied gradually across the targeted areas of your face.
Are there any safety concerns?
Tixel is considered a safe and non-invasive treatment with minimal side effects. The treatment does not cause smoke, bleeding, or skin charring and there are no fumes or carbonization.
